Golf Tournament on Sunday

Jessup School (Joe and Alexis' Elementary School) held their 2nd annual golf tournament this Sunday - the proceeds go to the school PTO. Warren Federal Credit Union sponsors a hole and a team from the Yellowstone Branch (the branch I work at) We had to have 4 players.

I was able to set up my own team :0) and it ended up being okay that I could invite friends instead of coworkers. Which, I don't have a problem with but it was nice to have our friends golf with us.

I took my wonderful husband and our friends Gus and Scott! We had a blast. Thankfully it was a best ball tournament so the guys carried me throughout the 18 holes. Par is 70 we ended with 67. I think -3 is pretty darn good.

I know you are shaking your head saying we are crazy and asking how do we do it?
It's very simple - these kids are the future and they grow quickly, these days will not last forever
and for now and in the future it is worth it.

Poor Alexis

Today was the 2nd day of school - At 2:30 pm I get a call from the school telling me that Alexis is in the office crying and saying that her head and throat hurt. The first thought that came to mind is "Crying Wolf" ~ Alexis wasn't overly thrilled with her first day of school so I thought maybe this was her idea to come home. Interrupting my thought, the school nurse said she had a 102 degree fever. Yikes

Of all the days....I was short staffed at work today so thankfully Clint was able to pick her up and he ran her to the Cheyenne Children's Clinic for a throat culture. Both Joe and now Alexis are what I call "Strep Kids". I think Joe had strep every 3 to 4 weeks. It seemed as soon as he finished one antibiotic he would start feeling bad and guess what??? He would have strep again. Eventually, his tonsils were removed and life has been smooth sailing for him. Alexis on the other hand is now following in his footsteps and her strep test came back positive today!

So, she missed the end of her 2nd day and won't be able to go tomorrow. She will have a 3 day weekend. In addition, she missed her 2nd soccer game this evening. Thankfully, by tomorrow night she should be able to go to team gymnastics practice and play in her soccer game on Saturday.

For all of you parents out there ~ School is in session, let the germs begin!

Another Birthday Celebration

Happy 41st Birthday Clinton John Hanes!

We celebrated Clint's 41st Birthday today. He took the day off of work and stayed home with the kids. I had to work, I can only imagine the R&R he received today....NOT! But it is his birthday and that is what he chose to do.

This evening Omi cooked ribs for dinner. It was DELICIOUS. We had cake and just arrived home.

(One last note - Thank goodness August is almost over. I must say that this month is the most stressful month of the year for me. I have 4 Birthday's to celebrate and my mother's death anniversary. I am looking forward to September)

The Boys ~ Joe's Present to Clint

(After writing and viewing this on the blog I have thought of things to add: 1. One day these pictures will be circulated on those emails that say "What the Heck???" 2. I didn't realize how hillbilly my husband and son look in these pics. I am not sure who is more embarrased, me or them??)

Joe received a paint ball gun for his Birthday ~ Clint wanted one too. So, Joe decided to get him one for his birthday. He will be 41 tomorrow!


Joe begged Clint to open his present tonight. Here are some pictures of the "goobers" posing with their paintball guns this evening.

They have put together a paintball trip for the Saturday during labor day weekend. They will have a blast ~ I will be thankful to be at home enjoying girly things :0)

Congratulations Alexis

Last night was Alexis' very first gymnastics meet ~ She competed in 4 categories.

I think she was nervous before they got started but as the night went on she seemed to relax and have a great time. I couldn't take any pictures, it isn't allowed. I didn't even take the camera so I didn't have to fight the urge!

Today is Joe's official Birthday - He is now 11

I took some M&M Ice Cream bars to his football practice this evening so he could share

it with his team. We let him open his present last night. He was thrilled with an iPod Touch.

He is in hog heaven.

Joe's 11th Birthday Party

Tonight we celebrated Joe's 11th Birthday ~ We had a blast.
We rented the municipal pool here in town and Joe invited lots of friends and family.
(Check out his cool candy bar cake - no mess and completely edible!)

We had an amazing birthday party yesterday ~ The Birthday Makeover Party!

The grid shows the decorations and different stations the girls could go to. We had a facial station with cucumbers and a face mask, a pedicure station complete with a foot soak and toenail painting, manicures with fresh polish, and hair and make-up stations. At the end, the girls presented their "new look" to the parents in a fashion show. Alexis had a great time!

Alexis' Homemade Birthday Present is AWESOME

Tomorrow is Alexis' 8th Birthday - Over the past few weeks Clint has been working on the most amazing fish tank house. The goal was to have it completed by her birthday and he succeeded. This afternoon he set it up just in time for her party tomorrow.

Joe found out on Monday that he was picked to be on the 11 Year Old Cheyenne Raptors Baseball Team. He did a great job at the tryouts and we are looking forward to another busyyear with competitive baseball.

Fall Sports Have Arrived

Today I received the official team roster for both Hailey's and Alexis' soccer teams. In addition Joe had his 1st fully padded football practice today. Talk about hardcore ~ I can't believe how intense football practice is for 6th graders! I was tired just watching them.

In addition to soccer and football, Alexis is now able to compete in Gymnastics. Her first competition is on August 21st. We are excited to watch her - she told me the only thing she is going to compete on is the uneven bars, but actually she will do vault, beam and floor routines too.

Last but not least, please pray for Joseph - his baseball tryouts for the 11 Year old Cheyenne Raptors Baseball Team is this Sunday. Although he was on the team last year it does not automatically place him on the team for the next year. They all have to try out each year to make the team for the next season. As much commitment and traveling as it was last season we are looking forward to more baseball.

Hooray - Keelan and Ayanna are here!!!

Thankfully Greg, Kyoko, Ayanna and Keelan have safely arrived! Greg and Kyoko are in Denver trying to buy a house and cars. While they are getting things squared away there, Ayanna and Keelan are staying with Omi and Opasan. On Tuesday (one day after they arrived) they came over to our house to play for a little while. Here is a picture of Alexis, Ayanna, Keelan and Joe in our backyard!

Welcome Home Greg, Kyoko, Ayanna and Keelan!

We are proud to announce that Clint's brother and his family are moving back to the U.S. from Japan - They will be arriving in Denver tomorrow afternoon. We are all so excited to have them close by.

They will be extremely busy over the next few weeks getting a car, a house and the kids into school.

It will be so nice to have you home! We have missed you!!!!!

Crawdad Fishing

On Saturday we decided to have some inexpensive fun. Clint and I took the kids Crawdad fishing.
There is a little pond in Lion's Park called Peanut Pond.
Usually there are tons of crawdads roaming around. We carefully baited some string with the "power bait"
aka: hot dogs. This year there weren't very many around but we did manage
to bring one home. Hailey let him live in her fish tank. But~this morning when he
was roaming around in my kitchen floor I didn't feel so good about him being around anymore.
Needless to say....he is back in her tank and I am keeping an eye on him to be sure that he stays there.


I don't want another surprise tomorrow morning!
